About this Website

Thank you for visiting the Genealogy of the Leith Clan website.  My name is K. James Leith and I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  This site is devoted not only to tracing the roots of my immediate family members, but also to the ongoing research into the history of the entire Leith Clan.  I welcome all input from Leiths in America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Scotland and elsewhere.  If you find an error, or have a viewpoint that may be contrary to what I have placed on this site, please inform me.  I will attempt to include all information that I receive, and therefore provide the most complete picture with all possibilities of the history of the Clan.

Please contact me at jamesleith@live.ca.

This site is contained within the www.leithmuseum.ca website.  I am a practicing visual artist and LeithMuseum is my online portfolio.  I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Western Ontario in 1997 and work in a variety of media.  My practice includes Sculpture, Painting, Mixed Media as well as Performance Art.  Please visit LeithMuseum to find out what Performance Art is.

It may interest you to know that this research began with the desire for a new suit.  I intended to pay a lot of money for a really fine suit when it occured to me to buy a kilt with my tartan because I have Scottish blood.  From the diligence ingrained in me from university study, the quick and easy reading of a tartan book became true research that gave birth to this website, and potentially years of work.  I do enjoy this and hope that it can be helpful to any and every member of the Leith Clan.

Special thanks to Jon Alexander Leith and Dorothy Agnus Naples (nee Leith) for their assistance in the research of the family tree.  Thanks to John Arthur, Leith, Edinburgh Historian for his research into the family name and history of Leith, Edinburgh.  Thanks also to the Scottish Government for making genealogical records available online.
